Truth can be a leader’s most powerful magic.
As a child, Sarah Mansberger dreamed of becoming a writer. With every intention of making her dream a reality, Sarah pursued and attained bachelor’s degrees in English and Ibero-American studies from the University of Toronto and a master’s degree in communication from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Along the way, she developed a passion for helping people and her prose took a different turn.
Today, Sarah’s writing drives curriculum development behind the programs delivered by Southwest Michigan First’s Leadership Team. The division’s programs like Leadership Kalamazoo, First 50 and more aim to build a community of leadership committed to a robust Southwest Michigan. Her approach to educating leaders is to “tell the truth and make a little magic.”
With a background in workforce development, training and executive management, Sarah honed her skills locally at HUMANeX Ventures. She also worked as Director of Creative Strategy and Engagement for The Cara Program, a top 20 nonprofit in Chicago and in positions with WBEZ/Chicago Public Radio and The Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband, Lucas, and three children. She serves on the board of Read and Write Kalamazoo (RAWK), a Kalamazoo-based youth literacy organization, and on the Marketing Committee for Women Employed in Chicago.
