Meet Bjorn

Bjorn serves as the president and chief executive officer of TowerPinkster, which in 2023, is celebrating 70 years in business. TowerPinkster is a multi-disciplinary design firm Michigan focused on architecture, engineering, and interior design for K-12 education, commercial, government, higher education, and healthcare clients. Joining TowerPinkster in 2007, he has been involved in the growth, evolution, and management of the company’s portfolio of clients, projects and talent.

During his career at the firm, the company has grown from 46 talents folks to almost 200 team members and expanded its reputation, marketplace, and reach beyond Michigan. Most recently, the firm has acquired an architecture firm with offices in Louisville, KY and Jeffersonville, IN to deepen its talent and strengthen its geographic reach throughout the Midwest and beyond. The firm prides itself on long-term relationships and repeat clientele, as well as core values of serving the communities we live, work, play, learn, and reside in as active citizens.

He is a strategic planner and designer with vision and the proven ability to craft unique solutions for various clients while always striving to increase economic and civic value for each project. Always striving to achieve successful results, Bjorn excels at leading a collaborative team-based approach to continually improve designs and building consensus among clients, stakeholders, and project teams. He enjoys working on challenging projects in various marketplaces and communities to gain insight and knowledge as part of his desire for lifelong learning. Dedicated work ethic and the ability to communicate and illustrate the vision, goals and ideas of a project establish him as a responsible advocate for each client, each project and each team member.

He grew up in Hinsdale, IL, graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Miami (FL) and spent several years working and living in downtown Chicago. His professional background includes working for the Disney Development Company, Skidmore Owings & Merrill and a boutique strategic planning firm in Chicago before joining TowerPinkster. In addition to Southwest Michigan First’s board, he is currently serving on the boards of the WMU Foundation, and the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, and is active in the “placemaking” of Kalamazoo. In 2007, he and his wife moved to the area to be closer to family and grandparents, raise their two children, and enjoy the great community of Kalamazoo and West Michigan!
