Western Diversified Plastics & Mol-Son
Matt was born and raised in the Kalamazoo area and spent summers working at his father Ron’s machine shop in Mattawan. After graduating from Portage Central High School (’90) and Albion College (’94), Matt pursued a career in film production. After working his way up over a decade in Chicago, the Detroit area and out West in the camera department on commercials and feature films (8 Mile, Transformers, The Island) Matt began serving as Director of Photography on several features himself including the locally produced Kalamazoo?. The allure of his home town, the family business and a more stable environment to raise his two children brought him back to the Kalamazoo area, and back to the family’s engineering/tool & die business, Mol-Son LLC. Around this same time with other partners they started Western Diversified Plastics, a plastic injection molding company that supplies electrical connectors and power distribution parts to the automotive industry.
Matt is an avid supporter of the BBBS Benefit Dinner, has served in leadership roles at the Kalamazoo Country Club, and lives with his two children in Texas Township.
