Mark A. Jones co-founded Kalamazoo-based AmeriFirst Home Mortgage in 1986. As CEO of the community mortgage banker, Mark and the leadership team at AmeriFirst have seen the company grow to serve over a dozen states through 70 branches and over 600 employees.
Named one of the “Fastest Growing Private Companies in America” by Inc. Magazine for the past 6 years in a row, AmeriFirst’s footprint continues to grow in the current housing market. AmeriFirst is the #1 USDA rural housing lender in the state of Michigan, the #3 FHA lender in Michigan, and one of the 50 largest FHA lenders in America. In recent years, AmeriFirst has begun to service the loans it originates, and currently manages a $4 Billion servicing portfolio.
Mark currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), the national trade association representing the mortgage industry. Within MBA, Mark serves as Co-Chairman of the Independent Mortgage Bankers Executive Council, a coalition on non-bank mortgage CEOs across the country. In 2016 Mark received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for Michigan and Northwest Ohio.
Mark is also active in the Southwest Michigan community. Mark is a current board member and Legislative Committee Chair at Southwest Michigan First, and serves as Chairman of Southwest Michigan First PAC (First PAC). He recently served as honorary chair for the Kalamazoo March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction, and is a past executive committee member of the Boys and Girls Club of Kalamazoo.
Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Virginia Commonwealth University, where he competed on the Varsity Swimming & Diving team.
Mark lives in Richland, MI with his wife Toni. He has three adult children (Jessi, Matt, and Michael), and one granddaughter (Kate).
