One definition of strategy is the art of planning and directing overall military operations and movement in a war or battle. For Kevin McLeod, the term battle can be applied to the men’s hockey team on which he plays or to the day-to-day strategic operations of the Michigan Medical Device Accelerator which he leads.

Kevin, a Hope College alumnus, brings more than 20 years of medical device expertise to Southwest Michigan First including a strong focus on global strategic product development and marketing from his prior employer, Stryker Corporation. As managing director of the Michigan Medical Device Accelerator, he is responsible for the commercialization, financial management, intellectual property protection, talent acquisition, acceleration and operational administration of the accelerator’s project portfolio. He also holds responsibility for leading Southwest Michigan First’s capital formation efforts.

In addition, Kevin is the president and chief executive officer of Impact Athletic, a start-up organization born out of the Michigan Medical Device Accelerator. He sits on the boards of the Michigan Medical Device Consortium, MichBio, Great Lakes Entrepreneurs Quest, ENT Biotech and PRS Medical and serves on the Michigan Economic Development Corporation's and MichBio’s medical device committees.

Kevin and his wife Debra, spend their free time honing the strategic skills of their three children: managing schedules with homework while driving to various team practices on the ice or field.
